Matcha Chocolate Cookie Recipe

Sweet, classic chocolate joins earthy, slightly bitter matcha for a unique and ultra soft cookie. For this recipe, the matcha dough and chocolate dough are made in separate bowls then swirled together into one jumbo cookie scoop just before baking!

Matcha Cookie Dough Ingredients

100g unsalted butter at room temperature

100g sugar

150g all-purpose flour

1 tbsp matcha powder

1 tsp baking powder

1 tsp real salt

1 egg

1 tsp pure vanilla extract

Chocolate Cookie Dough Ingredients

100g unsalted butter at room temperature

100g sugar

150g all-purpose flour

1 tbsp dutch cocoa powder

1 tsp baking powder

1 tsp real salt

1 egg

1 tsp pure vanilla extract

100g chocolate chips of choice

Instructions:

Preheat the oven to 350*F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

To make the matcha dough:

  1. Cream butter and sugar together in a stand mixer until light and fluffy.

  2. Add vanilla and egg and mix until well incorporated.

  3. Sift in the flour, baking powder, matcha, and salt and stir until just combined.

To make the chocolate dough:

  1. Cream butter and sugar together in a stand mixer until light and fluffy.

  2. Add vanilla and egg and mix until well incorporated.

  3. Sift in the flour, baking powder, cocoa powder, and salt and stir until just combined.

  4. Fold in the chocolate chips.

Once both doughs are made, it’s time to shape and bake the cookies!

  1. Fill half of a large dough scoop with matcha dough and the other half with chocolate dough. You can use a utensil to swirl the dough or leave it half and half style.

  2. Place scoops of dough about 2 inches apart on the prepared baking sheet.

  3. Bake for 12-16 minutes or until lightly golden brown around the edges.
